Answer: walk the double-six
Puzzle
Lead the double-six.
In sixes, the order from the top is double-six, six-five, six-four, and on down to the six-blank. You hold the boss trump. You do not hold the six-five. If you lead the six-four, the player with the six-five can take your dime and smile about it. Walk the double-six first. That pulls a trump, and your six-four is still sitting there for the next time sixes are led.
Do not lead the double-five. It is the other dime, and it is not a six. Anybody who is out of fives can trump it. Same story for the five-blank, the four-ace, and the trey-deuce. Those nickels are real money. They are also offs. Let somebody else open those suits, or wait until you have pulled the trump that can steal them.
You bid 31. You do not have to catch every trick. You do have to keep the count from walking across the table on the first lead. Boss trump first. Dimes after you know where the six-five went.
